Eleven days in Malaysia

You start with three nights in Kuala Lumpur, fly to Kuching in Borneo for four nights, and finish with three nights at a beach resort on the Damai Peninsula.

The guided tours are mostly half days, so there's time left over for the pool and for the kids to hang out together. The camp suits homeschooling and worldschooling families, but it's open to every family, and kids of all ages are welcome.

What do we do each day?

The afternoon is free.

  • Day 3 · Monday 7 June · Batu Caves and the countryside. Another half day. Watch pewter being cast, polished and engraved at Royal Selangor, see batik designed and printed by hand, then climb the 272 steps to the Hindu temple cave at Batu Caves.

Common questions

Where do we fly in and out?

Fly into Kuala Lumpur on Saturday 5 June 2027 and home from Kuching on Tuesday 15 June 2027. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching on Tuesday 8 June is included, and we book it for the whole group.

Are airport transfers included?

The transfers on the Kuala Lumpur to Kuching travel day are included. Your arrival in Kuala Lumpur and your departure from Kuching are optional extras, from AUD 100 per vehicle.

What should we wear at Batu Caves?

It's a working Hindu temple, so shoulders and knees need to be covered, for adults and kids. Wear comfortable shoes too, there are 272 steps.

Will we definitely see orangutans?

The orangutans at Semenggoh are semi-wild and live in the forest around the centre. They often come in at feeding time, but it's up to them, so we can't promise it.
